Instagram post 2192657034231616678_2047042486 Wondering how to teach your kids about saving money? According to financial expert Dave Ramsey, it’s never too early to start teaching kids about money. Even preschoolers can put their spare change in a couple of clear jars on the windowsill and watch it grow over time. When they earn allowance or receive money for gifts, help them divide the money between the jars — for example, one to spend, one to save. Ask them about their goals for the money they’re saving. Keep the goals achievable and realistic so they can feel a sense of accomplishment when their “save” jar fills up and it’s time to purchase something special. What do you do to teach your kids about money?

Instagram post 2183208141083619268_2047042486 Do you know how Mid Oregon Credit Union started?
We trace our roots back to 1957 when we were called the Tri County Teachers Federal Credit Union, which was the first credit union established in Central Oregon.
The credit union was started to serve school employees of Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties and their families by Mrs. Wauge. Wauge left her school district job to start the federal credit union in her Bend home (pictured), and served as the manager, while her husband served as loan officer and treasurer.
In October 1961, the name was changed to Mid Oregon Federal Credit Union.
Today Mid Oregon Credit Union honors the conception and birth of helping people in Central Oregon meet their needs and achieve their dreams. It's been 62 years since eight Crook County school district employees signed the charter organization certificate on November 8, 1957 which was approved two weeks later. The credit union has grown from the original 8 members to over 34,900 and growing.
From the original credit union “office” in a home in Bend, we have grown to seven local branches to serve you in Bend, Redmond, Sisters, La Pine, Prineville and Madras, and are headquartered in Bend. We also serve Wheeler, Lake and North Klamath Counties.

How amazing are these early photos of where we got started?

Skip your loan payment for just $25 and free up your budget for a more relaxing holiday season. What would you do with that extra money?

Instagram post 2179950822409771261_2047042486 The purchase of a car likely will be the second largest expenditure you have, second only to the purchase of a home, and the end of the year is a great time to get some new wheels. Whether you desire the shiny, brand new one, or if you are content with finding a reliable used one, we want to help you to get the most for your money.
Be sure to talk to us when you need a loan. We provide personalized service, educational resources, a non-sales approach, lower rates and you'll have a better chance of getting your loan approved. #midoregon

Instagram post 2165540237634686057_2047042486 Did you hear about Mid Oregon's Day of Community Service? A total of 10 branch and department teams chose a local organization to work with on a service project or supply-gathering effort, and the credit union supplied each team with a budget to purchase needed supplies or equipment to complete the project. After a morning of team-building and training for the entire staff, each team assembled in the afternoon to work on their local community projects.

As Mid Oregon is headquartered in and serves only Central Oregonians, our entire staff was focused on Central Oregon organizations. Our branch locations in Bend, Redmond, Madras, Prineville, La Pine and Sisters provided the starting point for our day of community service. #heartofmidoregon
